Organic and Natural Skin Care- I think not!

Finally! The Organic Consumers Association is exposing “cheater organic brands”….yes I’m telling you these common brands sold at Organic Food Stores and Health Food Stores are ripping you off! I used to buy some of these products and then I did my research. Don’t let these posers have you spending extra dollars to avoid cheap toxic chemicals and then have them seep into your pores while you shower anyway…..you could find way less expensive toxic and non-organic crap to do that for you at Safeway or Superstore or Walmart!

You can still find quality non-toxic organic personal care products at your Organic Food Store or Health Food Store, but they are few and far between.

The only brands that are truly organic are:

Aubrey Organics and Miessence

If you care about what your skin is eating and you want to actually get added value when you pay more, then don’t support the organic cheater brands!

If there are other quality organic brands or even brands that are not organic, but don’t have petrochems and  I don’t know of them, please enlighten me!

    • Hey Angila,

Thanks for commenting. Many people don’t read labels and assume that just because something is sold in a health food store that it must be natural. I have worked in health food stores for nearly 6 years and I have looked at all the labels.

My criteria for “natural” is whether the ingredients are found in nature or are synthesized chemicals and the side effects of those chems, and organic is best if possible. You can check out the toxicity of the synthesized chems in your “natural” and organic skin care products @ http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com

Some of these brands get away with stating a percentage of organic ingredients and including things like the water it contains and then giving a percentage by weight! This is just fooling the consumer, not providing a safe or truly organic product, but yet charging the consumer more based on the perceived value! I fell for this too for quite a while!

The purpose of this post is to emphasize the importance of still reading the labels and doing a bit of homework! Your skin literally eats this stuff!

Ingredients are the soul of organic beauty products…the best ingredients are scattered around the planet, companies foraying into organic skin care need to bring in all these products together and with thorough research have to come out with effective solutions.

Check out http://www.shiffa.com and the ingredients of their beauty products to know what i mean.
